NOW AVAILABLE: Tabletop Games at the PLV Library

In celebration of our university's foundation day, the Library shall be offering another service to our dear PLVians. Let us start having games in the Library! Why gaming at the Library? According to the American Library Association (ALA), board games, card games, and video games are, in essence, information, and at the same time, human acts of telling stories , presented in new formats that involve the player. Games may fulfill a library's mission to provide cultural, recreational, and entertaining materials; to provide academic curriculum support; or to provide resources and support their industry or profession (see website here ).  Available tabletop games in the Library Thus, we are inviting PLVians to check out the game kits above. We are starting from the very basics of chess, crossword game, breakthrough, and word masters. We are also hoping to expand the available games in the future. Happenings in the PLV Library this Summer of 2015

We posted a question to the library personnel and student assistants of the PLV Library: " Anong meron sa Library kapag summer?" . Here are their answers. "We do inventory, covering books (new and old), encode title of books that will be used as reference for literature-related subjects. We also did general cleaning for the upcoming school year." - Ma'am Jane, Library Staff "I'm the one in-charge with the furniture and equipment tagging as well as the task of updating the KOHA OPAC Database.  I also did the covering of old and new books together with other library staff and student assistants. PLV Library Visits PLMar Library and ADMU's Rizal Library

To better reach the developmental goals of the department, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela Library visited two resource centers this May 19. The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina Library (PLMar) and Ateneo de Manila University's Rizal Library warmly welcomed the PLV Library personnel. The two host libraries shared their best practices in the areas of (1) technical work specifically focusing on selection and acquisition, inventory, and related processes, (2) facilities, and (3) student-centered activities that they implement.  Together with Ms. Lolita P. Hernandez, University Librarian of PLMar.   PLMar Library personnel  discuss the lending process with the  PLV Library staff . PLV Library Joins CBA Week: Silent Auction for a Cause

The "Harana sa Silid Aklatan"  held on February 12th, 13th, 14th, 2015 was followed by the "Silent Auction for a Cause" on the 23rd during the CBA week at the PLV Grounds. Updates Right from the Heart of the PLV Library

It was a love-filled first quarter of 2015 in the PLV Library as it celebrated the love month through an acoustic rendition by the PLV Singers of popular tunes such as  Forevermore, Lucky, and Thinking-Out-Loud. Chocolates and candies were also given to library visitors during the activity. The PLV Singers creatively spreading love through wonderful song renditions.
