Winning Entry: 1st Student's Choice, Student's Voice Essay Writing Contest

We celebrate the Library and Information Services Month every November through Proclamation No. 837, s. 1991 . Moreover, this coming November 24 to 30, we also celebrate the 83rd National Book Week with the theme, "Libraries Take Action: Providing Access and Opportunity for All". 1st Student’s Choice, Student’s Voice Essay Writing Contest The PLV Library would like to hear the students' voice in the selection of books as well as provide the opportunity for PLVians to have a positive experience with literacy and reading.  PLVians, would you like to spend a day at the 38th Manila International Book Fair this September with a schoolmate? If your answer is yes, write an essay and be part of this contest!  Essay Writing Contest Rules: 1. The contest is open to all enrolled undergraduate and SHS students in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. Student Assistants and Student Volunteers of the PLV Library are not eligible to join. 2. Participants must write an essay composed of 300 words or less in Filipino or in English answering the question: What is reading for you? ( Ano ang pagbabasa para sa iyo? ) 3. LIPS 2017: Welcome to the PLV Library, Grade 11 Students!

The PLV Library welcomed four sections of Senior High School students through the Library Instruction Program for Students (LIPS) last July 19 and 20, 2017. It marked the start of a week-long program which mainly aims that students get to know the services and  activities offered  in the library , be aware of the steps in visiting the Library to maximize their stay, as well as learn  of  the policies, options, and privileges they have at the Library. They were also informed that they may also request optional services which include seminars on records management, storytelling, writing, book repair, and basic troubleshooting which the staff may hold for free. Mr. Marlon Bautista, library  personnel, holds a session of LIPS to ABM-2 students. All library personnel shall continuously conduct orientations to SHS students. Unlike the typical library orientation provided to students, they were also registered to the DOST-STARBOOKS so that they may utilize the database.  The release of

34th National Children's Book Day at the Library

Today we celebrate the 34th National Children's Book Day. This day also marks the anniversary of the publication of Jose Rizal's "The Monkey and the Turtle" in Trubner's Oriental Record in London.
