1st Student’s Choice, Student’s Voice Essay Writing Contest

The PLV Library would like to hear the students' voice in the selection of books as well as provide the opportunity for PLVians to have a positive experience with literacy and reading. 

PLVians, would you like to spend a day at the 38th Manila International Book Fair this September with a schoolmate? If your answer is yes, write an essay and be part of this contest! 

Essay Writing Contest Rules:
1. The contest is open to all enrolled undergraduate and SHS students in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. Student Assistants and Student Volunteers of the PLV Library are not eligible to join.
2. Participants must write an essay composed of 300 words or less in Filipino or in English answering the question: What is reading for you? (Ano ang pagbabasa para sa iyo?)
3. Participants must submit their answers to the PLV Library on a sheet of bond paper (font size 12, single space). Each participant should include their name, contact number, year and section at the back of the entry.
4. All essays must be submitted on or before August 31, 2017 (Thursday). Only one entry per participant is allowed.
5. The criteria for judging will be as follows: Content (40%); Organization (30%); Mechanics (30%).
6. One (1) winner will be announced on September 6, 2017 (Wednesday). S/he will be receiving the following:
  • Spend a day at the 38th Manila International Book Fair, SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex together with a schoolmate this September 2017. (Tentative Schedule: 1st day of the Book Fair; Book Fair schedule: Sept. 13-18, 2017)
  • Free transportation, food, and entrance to the Book Fair.
  • Select books for acquisition which they would like to be part of the PLV Library Collection. The student and his/her classmate will be assisted by the PLV Library Staff.
  • The winner will also receive a Certificate of Recognition and Php500.00 which s/he can spend at the Book Fair.
  • His/Her work shall be featured in the PLV Library Blog.

FEBRUARY 2018 READING ICON: Sen. Win Gatchalian
