PLV Library's Reading Icon for January - February 2020 RICHARD SORIANO LEGASPI Art Academician / Advocacy Filmmaker / Artiste Multidisciplinaire Gawad Dr. Pio Valenzuela Awardee for 2019 (Film) He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of the East, major in Advertising Arts. He studied filmmaking at the Asian Film Academy in Busan, South Korea in 2007. His artistic practice is more focused on raising consciousness and creating space for dialogue on communal issues, the responsible transformation of society, and creative activation through contemporary art. Legaspi’s achievements gained more importance when he represented the Philippines in major festivals and won the Miglior Montaggio award in San Gio, Italy. His films were officially selected in more than 150 International Film Festivals. He received the prestigious UNESCO Laureate artist recognition in 2013 and eventually becoming a resident artist of the Università delle Idee – Italy whic
