The PLV Library is featuring Michael King Urieta as its Reading Icon for June 2018. You will instantly know that Mr. Urieta is indeed into books and reading by having one quick glance at his office. It is also apparent in the keen manner that he carries out profound discussions.
Michael King Urieta is a book collector, theater practitioner, and an event designer.
For 15 years of being in the theater, he has been part of around thirty productions, mostly with Gantimpala Theater, became part of its Aliw Award-winning children's musical Pagong at Matsing. Eventually, he migrated to do backstage work from then onwards.
Having studied philosophy, his books range from Classical studies to Eastern wisdom, as well as a special liking to historical fiction and world history. With around 4,800 books in his personal collection, almost a fifth is dedicated to Christian history, liturgy, and theology.
Formerly of the Public Information Office, he has been with the City Government for six years and running. At present, he heads the People's Park Events Division and designs most of the City's major events as well. He also runs ARTvalenzuelaPH, the City's online database and activity portal for Valenzuelano artists.
He believes in working alone and that the quality of work determines the quality of a person.
