Reading Icon for February 2019: Divine Matibag – Cabaddu

Prof. Divine Matibag – Cabaddu is the CEO of the International Marketing Group, a brokerage firm with offices local and abroad. She is also a resource speaker on Financial Management at the Department of Trade and Industry - Philippine Trade and Training Center. At present, Prof. Cabaddu serves as a part-time professor at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience in finance, stock investing, and financial analytic skills to PLV students taking Financial Management.

Prof. Divine Matibag – Cabaddu is our Reading Icon for February 2019
Prof. Cabaddu wears a number of hats - being a blogger, an investor, and a financial planner as well. Her passion, specifically on financial literacy, has been her advocacy. She believes that it is the lack of education, not the lack of money, that causes poverty. In the trench of working towards the cause, she and her husband established the Financial Literacy Advocacy Group (FLAG) with its office in Dalandanan, Valenzuela City to provide free financial seminars, trainings and mentoring to aspiring investors, speakers, and entrepreneurs. Her vision is to create millennial millionaires someday.  As such, Prof. Cabaddu and her team continue to leverage their passion by educating and speaking to institutions like schools, churches, local communities, and companies on the importance of sound financial planning.

She firmly believes in lifelong learning. “Part and parcel of who I am is because of the books that I read. Growing up from a poor family, I had the privilege to explore books from our school library. Reading stretched my imagination, opened the world of possibilities, and helped me see different perspectives apart from my own. Some of my motivations and values came from my readings. It has enriched my vocabulary and writing skills which, I believe, contributed so much to my communication skills as a speaker, motivator, and educator.  Read books, travel, and build good relationships.”

Our humble and down-to-earth Reading Icon has an insatiable interest in travel. She has extensive international travels and learning experiences in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Spain.  Her favorite companion aside from her family and team is a good book, saying that “It makes me feel productive while waiting for a flight or being stuck in traffic.” In her recent trip to Seoul, South Korea, she was thrilled to visit the gigantic Starfield Library which houses a massive collection of books.

Prof. Divine Matibag – Cabaddu pursued her Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. She holds dual certifications - as an Associate Financial Planner and as a Registered Financial Planner of the Philippines. She is happily married with two children.

Prof. Cabaddu's personal book collection of more than 100 books is available for reading at the PLV Library this February 2019. She will also impart knowledge and experiences on her talk this coming February 14 at 2:00pm, entitled "Paano Mag-invest na Hindi Nasasaktan? Stock Investing the Right Way". The session is open to all members of the PLV Community. Pre-registration is required at the Main Library.
